Hudson, New York
🏞️
Up the Hudson, only two hours from New York City, you’ll find the charming town of Hudson, NY, which has teasingly come to be known as New York’s “sixth borough,” due to the number of NYC transplants who now live and work there. They came bringing the bounty of Brooklyn on their backs – mid-century furniture, artisanal loaves, and all. And as potentially insufferable as that sounds, it’s not. It’s charming, delicious and all located up and down one main thoroughfare, Warren Street. Honestly, there are so many good spots here, you can’t go wrong, but I’ve highlighted a few that we enjoyed.
We stayed at the sublime River Town Lodge, a former 1920s movie theater turned motel turned perfect, bright, book-strewn modern dream. It’s like you’re staying on a Charles & Ray Eames’s living room pull-out. Heaven, and at the top of Warren Street, so that everything is easily accessible on foot. Plus, they have free bikes and coffee!
Hudson is also very near to Olana, the home and studio of painter, Frederic Edwin Church, so if that’s on your list – stop by Hudson after for lunch!
